Riboprine, also known as isopentenyladenosine or ipa, is a member of the class of compounds known as purine nucleosides. Purine nucleosides are compounds comprising a purine base attached to a ribosyl or deoxyribosyl moiety. Riboprine is slightly soluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Riboprine can be found in a number of food items such as peppermint, chinese mustard, custard apple, and green bean, which makes riboprine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.

N6-Isopentenyladenosine (Riboprine), an RNA modification found in cytokinins, which regulate plant growth/differentiation, and a subset of tRNAs, where it improves the efficiency and accuracy of translation. N6-Isopentenyladenosine, an end product of the mevalonate pathway, is an autophagy inhibitor with an interesting anti-melanoma activity[1][2][3].
