描述信息

An organic heterotetracyclic compound 7,11b-dihydroindeno[2,1-c]chromene carrying five hydroxy substituents at positions 3, 4, 6a, 9 and 10. The most important and most used dye in histology, histochemistry, histopathology and in cytology.
Hematoxylin appears as white to yellowish crystals that redden on exposure to light. (NTP, 1992)
(+)-haematoxylin is a haematoxylin. It is an enantiomer of a (-)-haematoxylin.
Hematoxylin is a natural product found in Haematoxylum brasiletto and Haematoxylum campechianum with data available.
A dye obtained from the heartwood of logwood (Haematoxylon campechianum Linn., Leguminosae) used as a stain in microscopy and in the manufacture of ink.
