It is a (2R)-2-hydroxy monocarboxylic acid and a 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)lactic acid. It is a conjugate acid of a (2R)-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)lactate.
Danshensu is a natural product found in Salvia miltiorrhiza, Melissa officinalis, and other organisms with data available.
