描述信息
Norlaudanosoline (CAS: 4747-99-3), also known as tetrahydropapaveroline, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as benzylisoquinolines. These are organic compounds containing an isoquinoline to which a benzyl group is attached. Norlaudanosoline is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Norlaundanosoline is a key intermediate in the synthesis of the benzylisoquinoline alkaloids, providing the upper isoquinoline portion of the morphinan skeleton. It is involved in alkaloid biosynthesis and is synthesized by the enzyme (S)-norlaudanosoline synthase.
Formerly believed to be a biosynthetic precursor of morphine in Papaver somniferum, now disproved
