Omeprazole is a highly effective inhibitor of gastric acid secretion used in the therapy of stomach ulcers, dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease , gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The drug inhibits the H(+)-K(+)-ATPase (H(+)-K(+)-exchanging ATPase) in the proton pump of Gastric Parietal Cells.--Pubchem. Omeprazole is one of the most widely prescribed drugs internationally and is available over the counter in some countries.
Proton pump inhibitor, inhibits gastric acid secretion. Antiulcer agent. It is used in combination with Amoxicillin for eradication of Helicobacter pylori and for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (CCD)

Omeprazole (H 16868), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), is available for treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. Omeprazole shows competitive inhibition of CYP2C19 activity with a Ki of 2 to 6 μM[1]. Omeprazole also inhibits growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria[2].Omeprazole is a potent brain penetrant neutral sphingomyelinase (N-SMase) inhibitor (exosome inhibitor)[3].
