Monocrotaline is a pyrrolizidine alkaloid. Monocrotaline is a natural product found in Crotalaria novae-hollandiae, Crotalaria recta, and other organisms with data available. The alkaloid causes pulmonary artery hypertension, right ventricular hypertrophy, and pathological changes in the pulmonary vasculature.
