Ketoprofen
Ketoprofen is only found in individuals that have used or taken this drug. It is a propionic acid derivative and is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAIA) with analgesic and antipyretic properties. The anti-inflammatory effects of ketoprofen are believed to be due to inhibition cylooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme involved in prostaglandin synthesis via the arachidonic acid pathway. This results in decreased levels of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever and inflammation. Ketoprofen is a non-specific cyclooxygenase inhibitor and inhibition of COX-1 is thought to confer some of its side effects, such as GI upset and ulceration. Ketoprofen is thought to have anti-bradykinin activity, as well as lysosomal membrane-stabilizing action. Antipyretic effects may be due to action on the hypothalamus, resulting in an increased peripheral blood flow, vasodilation, and subsequent heat dissipation. Dyphylline
Dyphylline is only found in individuals that have used or taken this drug. It is a theophylline derivative with broncho- and vasodilator properties. It is used in the treatment of asthma, cardiac dyspnea, and bronchitis. [PubChem]The bronchodilatory action of dyphylline, as with other xanthines, is thought to be mediated through competitive inhibition of phosphodiesterase with a resulting increase in cyclic AMP producing relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle as well as antagonism of adenosine receptors. Galactosylglycerol
Galactosylglycerol is an intermediate in galactose and glycerolipid metabolism (KEGG: C05401). In galactose metabolism, galactosylglycerol is reversibly produced from D-galactose and glycerol by the enzyme alpha-galactosidase [EC:3.2.1.22]. It is also the first to last step in the synthesis of glycerol and is converted from 1,2-diacyl-3-beta-D-galactosyl-sn-glycerol. It is then converted to glycerol via the enzyme beta-galactosidase [EC:3.2.1.23]. [HMDB] Galactosylglycerol is an intermediate in galactose and glycerolipid metabolism (KEGG: C05401). Thiamylal
Thiamylal is only found in individuals that have used or taken this drug. It is a barbiturate that is administered intravenously for the production of complete anesthesia of short duration, for the induction of general anesthesia, or for inducing a hypnotic state. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p919)Thiamylal binds at a distinct binding site associated with a Cl- ionopore at the GABAA receptor, increasing the duration of time for which the Cl- ionopore is open. The post-synaptic inhibitory effect of GABA in the thalamus is, therefore, prolonged. Dexketoprofen
Dexketoprofen belongs to a class of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclo-oxygenase. Cyclo-oxygenase is involved in the production of chemicals in the body called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced in response to injury or certain diseases and would otherwise go on to cause swelling, inflammation and pain. By blocking cyclo-oxygenase, dexketoprofen prevents the production of prostaglandins and therefore reduces inflammation and pain. Along with Peripheral analgesic action it possesses central analgesic action. Dexketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is manufactured by Menarini, under the tradename Keral. It is available in the UK, as dexketoprofen trometamol, as a prescription-only drug and in Latin America as Miracox, produced by Stein in Costa Rica. In Italy it is available as an over the counter-drug under the tradename Enantyum. In Lithuania it is available as over the counter-drug uder tradename Dolmen.
