It has a role as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist. It is a piperidine alkaloid, a tertiary amine and an aromatic ketone. Lobeline is a natural product found in Lobelia sessilifolia, Lobelia inflata, and other organisms with data available. An alkaloid that has actions similar to NICOTINE on nicotinic cholinergic receptors but is less potent.
