Selenate

Selenic acid, disodium salt, 75Se-labeled

H2O4Se (145.9118302)

Selenate, also known as selenic acid, is a member of the class of compounds known as non-metal selanates. These are inorganic non-metallic compounds containing a selenate as its largest oxoanion. Selenate can be found in a number of foods such as chives, naranjillas, moth beans, other soy products, black crowberries, rapes, acorns, and Alaska blueberries. Selenates are analogous to sulfates and have similar chemistry (Wikipedia). They are highly soluble in aqueous solutions at ambient temperatures (Wikipedia). Selenate can be metabolized to methyl-2-acetamido-2-deoxy-1-seleno-β-D-galactopyranoside (SeSug1) and methyl-2-amino-2-deoxy-1-seleno-β-D-galactopyranoside (SeSug3) (PMID: 25270623). Selenate is metabolized only marginally and is excreted rapidly via urine generally (PMID: 25270623). Sodium selenate is effectively used for bio-fortification of crops hence fortifying food/feed to mitigate selenium deficiency in humans and livestock (Wikipedia). The decahydrate is a common ingredient in multivitamins and livestock feed as a source of selenium (Wikipedia). P-Dichlorobenzene

1,4-Dichlorobenzene (acd/name 4.0)

C6H4Cl2 (145.96900440000002)

1,4-Dichlorobenzene (p-DCB, para-dichlorobenzene) is an organic compound with the formula C6H4Cl2. This colorless solid has a strong odor. In terms of its structure, the molecule consists of two chlorine atoms substituted for hydrogen at opposing sites on a benzene ring. p-DCB is used a pesticide and a deodorant, most familiarly in mothballs in which it is a replacement for the more traditional naphthalene. p-DCB is also used as a precursor in the production of the polymer poly(p-phenylene sulfide). Sinjarite

calcium chloride dihydrate

H4CaCl2O2 (145.9214254)

Calcium chloride is an irritant, particularly on moist skin.; Calcium chloride, CaCl2, is a common salt. It behaves as a typical ionic halide, and is solid at room temperature. It has several common applications such as brine for refrigeration plants, ice and dust control on roads, and in concrete. The anhydrous salt is also widely used as a desiccant, where it will adsorb so much water that it will eventually dissolve in its own crystal lattice water. It can be produced directly from limestone, but large amounts are also produced as a by-product of the Solvay process. Because of its hygroscopic nature, the anhydrous form must be kept in tightly-sealed containers. It is used to turn kelp into a solid.
