16a-Hydroxydehydroisoandrosterone is a metabolite present during pregnancy with increased concentrations as it progresses (PMID 6461703). A reduced level of 16a-Hydroxydehydroisoandrosterone is observed in cases of Placental sulfatase deficiency (PSD), a rare disorder with low estrogen production due to placental enzymatic deficiency.
