Purine is a bicyclic aromatic compound made up of a pyrimidine ring fused to an imidazole ring. 3-Methyladenine exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans. 3-Methyladenine has been detected, but not quantified, in several different foods, such as soft-necked garlics, chinese bayberries, burbots, amaranths, and tea.
