Ricinoleic acid

(Z,12R)-12-hydroxyoctadec-9-enoic acid

C18H34O3 (298.2508)

Ricinoleic acid is found in corn. Ricinoleic acid occurs in castor oil and other oils e.g. grape and ergot (Claviceps purpurea) Ricinoleic acid (12-hydroxy-9-cis-octadecenoic acid) is an unsaturated omega-9 fatty acid that naturally occurs in mature Castor plant (Ricinus communis L., Euphorbiaceae) seeds or in sclerotium of ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul., Clavicipitaceae). About 90\\% of the fatty acid content in castor oil is the triglyceride formed from ricinoleic acid. Ricinoleic acid is manufactured for industries by saponification or fractional distillation of hydrolyzed castor oil. The zinc salt is used in personal care products, such as deodorants Ricinoleic acid is a (9Z)-12-hydroxyoctadec-9-enoic acid in which the 12-hydroxy group has R-configuration.. It is a conjugate acid of a ricinoleate. Ricinoleic acid is a natural product found in Cephalocroton cordofanus, Crotalaria retusa, and other organisms with data available. Rifapentine is only found in individuals that have used or taken this drug. It is an antibiotic drug used in the treatment of tuberculosis.Rifapentine has shown higher bacteriostatic and bactericidal activities especially against intracellular bacteria growing in human monocyte-derived macrophages. Rifapentine inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase in susceptible strains of M. tuberculosis. Rifapentine acts via the inhibition of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, leading to a suppression of RNA synthesis and cell death. TG(8:0/8:0/8:0)

Octanoic acid, 1,1,1-(1,2,3-propanetriyl) ester

C27H50O6 (470.3607)

TG(8:0/8:0/8:0) belongs to the family of triradyglycerols, which are glycerolipids lipids containing a common glycerol backbone to which at least one fatty acyl group is esterified. Their general formula is [R1]OCC(CO[R2])O[R3]. TG(8:0/8:0/8:0) is made up of one octanoyl(R1), one octanoyl(R2), and one octanoyl(R3). It is used in bakery products. Carrier for essential oils and flavours. Glycerol trioctanoate is found in cereals and cereal products.
