Anhydropisatin is a member of the class of compounds known as pterocarpans. Pterocarpans are benzo-pyrano-furano-benzene compounds, containing the 6H-[1]benzofuro[3,2-c]chromene skeleton. They are derivatives of isoflavonoids. Thus, anhydropisatin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Anhydropisatin is practically insoluble (in water) and an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
