Homoanserine (N-(4-Aminobutyryl)-L-histidine) is a dipeptide identified in the brain and muscles of mammals. (PMID 3780724, 6078589) It has been found that homoanserine is not merely deposited in skeletal muscles but that is actively synthesized by muscle cells in culture.
